In July 2019, Double Eagle Hotel & Casino announced plans to work with sportsbook operator PointsBet to build out a huge gambling venue in Cripple Creek, Colorado.

The pair said the venue will include a sports bar, multi-screen video and odds display wall, and additional casino gaming and sports betting options. Of course, the plan was contingent upon the approval of sports betting by Colorado voters in November 2019 and subject to regulatory approvals from the Colorado Division of Gaming.

Both have since arrived, and the Double Eagle Hotel & Casino was set to launch its retail sportsbook and entertainment venue alongside a PointsBet Colorado online and mobile sports betting product on May 1, 2020.

The retail operation has plans to host on-site viewing parties for major sporting events throughout the second half of 2020 and beyond. Both operations are promising a premium sportsbook and betting experience with a customer-first focus from start to finish.

Breakfast includes giant cinnamon rolls, the famous Double Eagle breakfast sandwich and a traditional breakfast menu with house specialties. The Double Eagle Hotel & Casino opened on Aug. 29, 1996, and was instantly the biggest casino in Cripple Creek until Wildwood Casino opened in May 2008.

It remained the largest hotel operator in Cripple Creek. However, it was surpassed by Triple Crown Casinos’ new $40 million five-story and 200-room hotel attached to the Brass Ass Casino and Triple Crown’s parking garage when it opened in the second half of 2020.

The Double Eagle was already the largest casino in Cripple Creek when it got even bigger in 2003, consuming an entire city block to make space for conference rooms, retail stores, a restaurant and more slots.

Double Eagle construction crews knocked down three historic buildings to support the expansion, but rebuilt the historic storefront facades in the original design using some of the old building materials.

The Double Eagle Hotel & Casino now includes 158 hotel rooms and approximately 23,362 square feet of gaming space located on two floors. Plus, two restaurants, a coffee and ice cream shop, and 5,500 square feet of meeting, event and retail space.

In July 2019, the casino and hotel started working with sportsbook operator PointsBet to build a mega gambling and entertainment venue in Cripple Creek.
